On the radio

Last night, I got my briefing on the software updates at the radio station. Through the magic of the Internet, I will be able to use my pc to log on to the radio station's pc, thereupon to get copies of the week's playlists, and to upload my spots. (I inquired about the correct way to close out the session without shutting down the radio station -- having learned the hard way about this sort of thing at the day job -- and was told someone had already done that, and that it took 2 hours to get it broadcasting again, so there's a fail-safe to prevent anyone from shutting it down now.) The new software will automatically grab the spots out of the destination folder, and plug them into the feed.

The station manager / producer was thrilled about this, because he'd previously been spending up to 6 hours a day assembling the feed.

He's also shuffling radio talent. The morning show has a new co-host. The afternoon show has been moved to one of the weekend spots. I was lauded with many kudos and told I was doing an excellent job. (Where "excellent job" means both he liked the content of my spots, and the fact that they were all delivered on time and labeled correctly.)

The station is also going to be moving hosts -- apparently abacast has some technical issues, in that they don't provide feed streams in all of the popular formats. And they're going to be doing interviews with some major country music stars, who are friends of one of the station's founders, or something like that. (We got off on a discussion of how one particular country star had a really hot daughter that one of the guys had gone to school with, but had never worked up the nerve to ask out...) Anyway, I'll keep you posted and give you the new stream URL when it's available.

While I was knocking about SL, I also picked up a pair of tinted contact lenses -- the lower-right ones in the picture, a gorgeous crystal blue with a purple iris ring. My "natural" eye color in SL is a very nice blue-grey, rather distinctive, but I saw these and was just totally, I WANT!
